Analyze of Data
We made a data table for all the items we use in our experiment and the amount of heat these items conducted. The data table shows how much water we use and we used 200 ML. of water for one cup, and 200 ML. for the other cup we used. The temperature of the boiling water was at 125 degrees Fahrenheit and that is what we put the items into, so it can heat up. The temperature of the room water was 90 degrees Fahrenheit and that water was in one cup. The fifth column shows how much the room temperature water went up by putting the item that was just put in right after it was heated up from the boiling hot water. The last column shows the difference between how much the room temperature water started at and how much it heated up by the item.
The items we use were different types of metals. We use a iron nail, penny, quarter, paper clip, screwdriver,nickel, and scissors. The item that brought the room temperature up the most was the screwdriver, which rose the room water temperature up by 2 degrees Fahrenheit. The scissors brought the water up by 1.9 degrees Fahrenheit. The key that we used for this experiment made the room temperature raise up by 1.2 degrees Fahrenheit . The iron nail, and the penny made the room temperature water raise up by .5 degrees Fahrenheit. The quarter had raise the water up by the least amount and it was only .4 degrees Fahrenheit. The reason why we think the screwdriver brought the water up the most because it was the biggest item we used out of all of the items. The reason why we think the quarter conducted the less heat was because it is made of some type of metal that doesn't conduct a lot of heat energy as much as other metals. The reason why we think that the smaller items didn't conduct a lot of heat is because of the size and it might be because of the type of metals thats it may have inside of it.
